And think I need to adjust my priorities: be more sociable, or do my own thing? Not enough damn hours in the day. And I am so bad with keeping up communications off LJ.
1. Need to find the charger for my camera.
2. Spent the entire afternoon geeking out over research for my original work (as those of you who might have been paying attention to the post may have noticed XD), which culminated in
this awesome, awesome article which at once both clarifies a lot of things for me as well as opens up new avenues of research.
Particularly need to look up: 越絕書 and 吳越春秋. Plus other Chinese language sources. Boy, this is going to be a pain.
(For those of you with relevant interests,
http://www.sino-platonic.org/ is a great resource for research on non-mainstream topics.)
2a. irrelevant aside: although I looooove hanfu and in theory would support the
revival movement, I find that most hanfu revivalists are creepy and.... overly nationalistic/racist. I don't mean white people racist and I don't feel like explaining. (I do like qipao/cheongsams/etc. too but the imagery unfortunately, to me, carries a lot of, mmmmmm, I guess I should say, colonialist baggage -- i.e. white people racism and really just the common stereotype of Chinese women in general -- and they really only suit a particular body type.) Plus people always mistake hanfu for kimonos (THEY LOOK NOTHING ALIKE) and that just makes me pissy, so whatever.
3. DETECTIVE CONAN. Major story arc, coming right up! For the record: I've been convinced Okiya is Akai ever since Okiya showed up. (I was also one of the earliest/only people to buy into Jodie/Akai way back when the Akai/Akemi/Ai connection was all the craze, so nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh I have been feeling soooo vindicated since the last Jodie case.) Burned!Akai I would venture is Kir. I don't think it's Vermouth -- not her style.
4. Started reading The Conquest. (Check back a few posts.) Much more readable than I was expecting.
5. Aoi Hana is pretty. Sooooo pretttyyyyyyy.
lalalala. Screw it, I'm going back to my research.
