I don't completely know your argument for Israel. Tell me more sometime, please. ...I wonder if the best way would be to establish a recognized Palestinian state with the 1949 boundaries.
I do know you think it's important that there's a strong presence of a western style, secular democracy in the middle east. But driving the Palestinians as refugees out into other Middle Eastern countries, such as Lebanon, creates more tension and anger at the US for supporting these policies.
Clearly the problem is that we have too many people and not enough places to put them. Sure we put the Jews in Israel. But now the Palestinians are displaced. Where are we going to put them? Iraq? That'll just lead to more people being displaced. The only rational solution at this point is to colonize Mars and hope to god that there aren't any martians there. Because no one wants to live in the cesspool that is Venus.
