Yesterday I finally had a bash at completing the open ended questions section of my application form for jobs next year. I absolutely loathe attempting to frame myself in self-serving, trumpet-tooting, corporate speak. I feel dirty ( Read more... )

*sigh* thank you... I'm really looking forward to having this crappy application process out of the way so I can concentrate on learning rather than CV buffing.

How is the UK treating you? I'm looking forward to the next installment of your adventures.

Don't use QMC - abbreviations bad. Just say hospital.

You might like to include a link to the web resource if it still exists.

Lovely to read about yet another way in which you are special!

Just in general, you really have to try and kick modesty out of the window. You're basically writing a sales pitch, so remember to sell the benefits [of you.] Really play up the things that make you special and an attractive proposition. Also, always refer back to the question. In a writen application this is especially true.

The one question i did notice was the one about pressure and challenge. Find a way to describe how you dealt with the pressure and overcame the challenge rather than just describing the situation you were in :)
