Another Sunday Another Bike Race

Apr 29, 2007 21:01

This time I was a spectator with a camera... Mansfield Ontario, Plastiglas Ontario Cup #1.

I'll start at the very beginning (that's a very good place to start...)

Actually, no, I won't, I'll start with the frog  - cause it was the highlight.

Riding with a rigid fork actually gives you a really good amount of control. I rode one excusively until last fall, when the downside of the rigid fork (absorbing all of that shock in your hands and wrists can hurt like hell) finally got the best of me. I still only ride with a 40mm travel fork, though. It's just enough to spare the hands but solid enough that I don't feel like I'm giving up any control.

They're on their on on the single-speed thing, though.

Also, how can they not have a vert profile on the website?

To be sure, I have nothing against rigid forks, in fact I quite like them, and further... my suspension is shot, bent actually.

That said, I could hear teeth clattering down this descent.

Granted I did see that particular rider on the hill and he handled it with ease, humour even, doing that: AhhhHhhhHhhhH! sound - like little kids make going over something bumpy, hm, that is harder to describe in text than I thought.

As for a vert profile - I am assuming you mean some sort of topographical type image? I tried looking it up at bikely.com but I can't zoom in enough to plot the course - the neighbouring property is a downhill ski resort lends to the image.

It's really hard to tell anything about a MTB race without a topographical map.

That's a bracket fungus, lichen is a very small symbiotic organism consisting of fungus and either green algae and/or a cyanobacterium, usually seen up close only (due to it's very small size coupled with an incredibly slow growth rate) growing on rock, concrete or barren soil. They can sometimes grow on tress but are not parasitic to or decomposers of.

Don't forget to keep them clear on the difference between a lichen and a moss as well :)

:D that said, there is another picture I have to show you, when I get home.

Can you differentiate the amphibian, frog or toad?
