I'm currently at work. And yes, I've also decided to use some capital letters today and maybe even avoid the excessive number of ellipses that usually infest anything I write. I'm afraid that I've become so reliant on the auto-capitalizing powers of Microsoft Word that, come GRE day, I will receive a craptastic mark on my otherwise decently ( Read more... )

I keep trying to find info on what GRE scores I should be aiming for, but I can't find much. Geophysics at Princeton says I should get at least 700 on both the verbal and math, and the average entering score for math is around 750 for geophysics. I don't want to go to Princeton because they don't have what I want, but that's the most info I can find. And I'm worried about the essay because I can't remember the last time that I wrote an essay.

yeah, for some reason, people in psyc seem to be dumber than average. when you download the GRE software, there's a tool that shows you graphs of average scores of people in various majors, and psyc is definitely the lowest of the social sciences. so that makes me glad.

as for the essay, take a look at the sample answers that people give... the ones that get 5s are very comparable to the kind of tripe that i can dish out in 30 minutes, and the ones that get 6s aren't exactly super-fantastic-awesome. i wouldn't worry.

Omg, you're going to grad school for psych? This is what kind of big, obvious news passes me by when I fall off the face of the planet! My boyfriend is hoping to next year go to med school for psych -- okay, so that's a different path, but still, it's similar!! And he would've loved to look up grad programs for psych, since he didn't get into med school this year, but he only started looking for them in July or something so of course instead he's doing some one year master's program (not in psych, just medical-related... genetics, of all things, which I doubt he's actually interested in?) while waiting to re-apply to med school... but yea, hot damn, tell me all about the schools that you apply to, so that i can sneak them onto his list at the end of the med schools or something like that, "just in case", and pull him into Canada.... And this July, when he started belatedly applying, he did the GREs, too!! He ended up with I think a 750, 740 and a 5.5? Or something like that, anyways. Actually, if you're free to meet up while I'm in ( ... )
