I am Xander, King of the Morons!

...you guys, I am such an idiot. I made an unwise sock decision this afternoon (viz.: not taking the time to change them after I realised they both had holes in the heel; I thought 'they were fine all day at work, surely another hour won't hurt!' -- WRONG!) and consequently got 25 mins away from my house before I couldn't take it anymore and had to ( Read more... )

Sadly not wearing work boots is actually a sackable offence, but I managed to not have to walk too much today, so it was okay in the end. Staying off my feet for the rest of yesterday evening was clearly the Right Move.

Better today, thankfully, and I think spending some time in the pool this afternoon helped even more. My poor feet, they take so much abuse, hee.

When I was 13 or so, we were living in Phoenix, Arizona. I was walking home from school one day and it was so hot, it felt like my feet were swimming in my socks and shoes. About three or four houses from my house, I couldn't take it anymore. So I took the shoes off and peeled off the socks and walked that last little bit barefoot on the sidewalk. And ended up with huge blisters on the soles of my feet from burning them.

Never did that again.

Owww oww oww oh god OW. I've done similar things here in past summers at the beach - the good beaches are black sand so they get wicked hot in summer, but not quite to that extent. Although I do think the ones on the soles of my feet were about half pressure, half heat (the bitumen was HOT when I crossed the roads on my way) so... yeah. Owwww. *massive sympathy for 13 year old you!*

I've scorched my feet on sand but at least that goes away pretty quick. Your poor footsies. We live and learn.
