I have more trouble with tenses than I should, so I sympathize whole-heartedly.

And yay! for the tires not being your fault. Always nice to feel vindicated in beliefs like that.

I don't know where I picked up the habit of defaulting to present tense for everything, but I tend to get, like, halfway through the paragraph and then slip back into past and oh, is it ever confusing to read back over later, hee. Glad to know I'm not the only one!
