I got so angry when I read the text article that I actually clicked the "send us your thoughts" link and let them have it. Idiots. I don't want to depress you, but did you hear about them translating Romeo and Juliet into text language so the children could understand it? 2 b or not 2 b, Julet? :( for real.

Having just written 8 pages in 2 hours, those kids can SUCK IT UP and write it just like we did. In the snow. Uphill both motherfucking ways. Grr.

I. Oh god. I was about to say "please tell me you're joking" but you're obviously not and just. How does that even make SENSE?? (And, heck, if they want to make it more accessible, a) teach kids to enjoy reading in general more and 2) show them the Reduced Shakespeare company as a treat!)

Yes! Exactly! With a leaking biro and only cow pats to keep our heels warm, even.

But, honestly, the thing I have never understood? Txt-speak only saves characters, it doesn't save any time at all in terms of actually crafting a sentence/writing, because you have to put things into a form which, frankly, does not flow that well. Okay, I concede that if people use it a lot then probably they can 'think' in it, but I don't think it's any harder to just write all the damn letters. *grumbles about the irritating minority among the Yoof*
