A Minor Chill

Title: A Minor Chill
Warnings: none
Summary: Present Day. U.S.-Russian relations have been a little frosty lately.
A/N: I'll be honest, I needed to research what Britain was up to during the Cold War. ^^;; The Cold War is not my forte. Thankfully, I needed to know just enough not to seem like a dunce. I did find fun facts here, here, and here.

Is this a thing? )

I would imagine things between the US and Russia being a bit frosty, since Russia agreed to give the guy that leaked the NSA spying stuff temporary asylum for a year and the US might boycott the 2014 Winter Olympics over it (and sadly not because of how the Russian government are treating their gay citizens).

Meri eating cold treats is a nice touch there. Out of curiosity, what flavors are the icy drink and ice cream he's eating?

Also shouldn't that be shite and not shit?

I've actually heard them use both shit and shite. I don't know if it's more of a regional thing or if one is more offensive than the other.

And that's a Wendy's vanilla frosty and a blue raspberry icee. :)

I don't think the U.S. would boycott the Olympics just because of Snowden, but I can see how that's the tipping point for them to go, "Okay, we're done playing nice now," which would bring all the other issues the U.S. has with them out to the forefront.

I suppose that makes sense.

Meh, Wendy's ice cream isn't that good. I would rather go to Dairy Queen, or to either Ben & Jerry's or Cold Stone if I had more pocket money. Blue icees are good though.

Considering that the Russian president has said that they have no real obligation to return Snowden, since there isn't any treaties between them, I wouldn't be that surprised if his temporary asylum turns into a permanent one.

Heh, I don't think we have Dairy Queen anywhere around here and sadly Ben and Jerry's and Cold Stone doesn't have a name like Frosty to really be all that ironic.

I love your comics, as always! I just thought I'd talk about the "shite vs shit" thing, seeing as I'm British I kind of feel like I know something about it?

"Shite", typically, is something that is more commonly associated with the Scottish although Welsh and English have been known to say it too (though it doesn't tend to be used aggressively like it might be done with Scottish). "Shit" is much more common term for British people.

It's best to remember that I am generalizing, however and only referring from my own knowledge but I hope this helps a bit?
