There is now internet at the apartment! Yay!

On the downside, my job is being a pain in my butt. WTF am I supposed to do with a theme that is, and I quote "Words." No, really. I don't know ANYTHING about these students, as in what they have even LEARNED, and I have to teach a class on "words." If I knew what they were learning, I could maybe ( Read more... )

words? wtf? That is just like all of English ever XDDD play English shiritori? I would say teach them parts of English and do madlibs, but it depends on their level- lower level students could have a cheat sheet though (verb=動詞 とか)

I had my mom just tape the CMs that come on American Idol. XD; This was bc I had to access to youtube at school- if you can get an internet capable pc in the classroom I bet you can find a bunch- cars, shampoo, and especially food since the food ads here and in America are way different.

I know! I sent a mail to interac telling them "I get what you are saying, but I don't know anything about these students and what the HECK do they mean by 'words.' I just do not understand." I know which teacher that it is who requested that, and I know he's being difficult on purpose (I'm not doing things his way, aka the way the former ALT did), so he's not happy.

Internet capable PC might be do-able. I will ask! I wish I knew where the tape with LOST on it was, I think that had commercials.

If you have access, there are a ton of commercials on youtube, even vintage ones! Like, "Hey! You got your peanut butter in my chocolate! You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!" I bet they might like that. I would. Oh, and if you can't play youtube in the classroom there are a few sites that let you download youtube videos and save them as files that are playable with most video programs (I can't remember the specific free one that Mike likes). Just google download youtube videos.

As for "Words" that is pretty broad. I like the mad libs idea or have them write or read some poetry, maybe? Or a memory-esk game for lower level (one card with a picture one with a word or something).
