Yeah. Now that I've read the chapter, I've stopped acting like the Hidan and Kakuzu fans that I laughed at before and am fairly certain that the power of being one of the Top Three Favorite characters, he would not get the shitty death, Shueisha wouldn't allow it.

I am 85.67% certain that this definitely isn't the end for Kakashi. I firmly believe that Kishimoto is just pulling a Harry Potter near-death-experience trip. It was good to finally see Sakumo have a spoken line at least, and to see his face. Tsunade's slug will probably save Kakashi at the last moment and Sakumo will say "Go back, Son. Go back and do what I couldn't" --or something like that.
