Luffy wasn't about to give up so soon.
"I'm not making this up!" he exclaimed, gesturing wildly. "Meredith said something about a machine, and then she disappeared. And other people popped up around me saying that they were from different worlds..."
"The idiot has gone completely mad," Sanji muttered out of the corner of his mouth.
Nami sighed, exhasperated. "Quit being so stupid, Luffy," she said brusquely. "It's impossible. We came with you and there is no weird shop and no creepy twins. You just had a nightmare, is that right Chopper?"
"Uhm, probably," the little reindeer said. "But I don't know why Luffy is having so many nightmares lately, it's not normal."
"It's not like him," Robin agreed with a slight smile. "Our captain is of the happy-go-lucky kind. He shouldn't have any nightmares to haunt him."
"It wasn't a nightmare," said Luffy. "I'm sure it was real."
"You said it was a place full of stars, like a night sky," Nami said cautiously, and the boy nodded eagerly. "Luffy, a place like that can't possibly exist," Nami said slowly. "I tried to explain already, it just makes no sense."
"But we've been to the sky once already," Luffy insisted. "And some of those people told me about their worlds, about what they look like and such."
"We've gone over this," replied Nami. "I've never heard of any of the places you're mentioning. I tried looking them up in the atlases too, but I didn't find anything."
"Yes, but they might be from other planets," Luffy said, idly picking his nose. "One of them said that their planet has two suns, so this means he's an alien!"
Nami looked at the faces of the crew. They all looked slightly worried. Sanji caught her glance and shook his head, for once at a loss for words.
"They were playing a joke on you," said Zoro. "Maybe someone with the powers of the Devil's Fruit."
"An illusion," Robin suggested, but Luffy shook his head.
"I'm sure it was real! It felt like a real place. Chopper, you believe me, don't you?"
Chopper jumped at being addressed directly. "Of course," he started, but then he caught Nami's glare. "But it seems such an unlikely story," he mumbled.
Luffy turned to Usopp, but the boy shook his head. "I don't think you're making this up, because I would realize it if it was a lie. That's my professional opinion as a master liar," Usopp added. "But I think that you have to be very careful, maybe it's someone who's after the bounty on your head. Just be careful and don't go back to that place alone. I'll go with you and protect you, because I'm the great Captain Usopp. Trickery and illusion won't work with me!" he said, striking a heroic pose that made Chopper start clapping excitedly.
"Just stay away from that place, and try to keep both feet in the real world," Nami said. "Now if you've finished wasting time, I'd like to discuss the repairs for the Going Merry. She's been badly damaged, and it would be bad if we waited too long before fixing her."
Luffy pouted, but he wanted the Merry to be repaired as soon as possible so he didn't interrupt. Later he'd try again to explain that the astral plane was real.
