Time for a very special plot

The plot has started! Please refer to this post for all your mingling and IC fun time needs. Now then, because of the nature of this plot, there’s been quite a change to the Plane. It’s not a fun change. Something is very, very wrong here. How wrong, you ask?

This is like when the Machine broke only with a twist. This time you aren’t trapped in darkness, though occasionally the ‘lights’ of the Plane will flicker as if a power outage could happen at any moment. The stars and galaxies will be unrecognisable to anyone, foreign and haunting. Everyone will have been yanked from whatever they were doing with whatever they had one them at the moment. Otherwise, nothing. It might be unfortunate to be helpless here now, though.

There’s something here. Or at least, that’s what it feels like. Something lurking in the darkness. Scratching, clawing sounds can be heard. The Machine’s hum will be much quieter than normal, so these sounds will be heard easier. There will be faint, distant growls that no animal could possibly make and the occasional rumble that sounds unearthly. The sound of grinding that is more like flesh or bone will be heard sometimes or scraping of something metal against something wet and crying. There may be hissing. Other times, there will only be only oppressive silence, to where even your voice seems muffled.

Characters will experience sensory distortion, mild hallucinations like intense ‘something out of the corner of your eye’ things, dizziness, strange and disturbing smells, the feeling of someone watching you, being right behind you, the ghost of wind - no actual wind - that may have been someone passing by you. It may sometimes feel far too humid. Temperatures themselves will vary wildly and without any reason between ‘a winter coat would be lovely right now’ and ‘man it’s hot my shirt must come off.’

Basically, the Plane is currently not safe. Your characters will feel that. Even in buildings the feelings and sounds will follow, with the added bonus of, “I thought I shut that door” or “Was that chair pulled out before?” and “Those weren’t footsteps behind me, were they?” Everyone’s survival instincts will be screaming at them and this is just the start. It’s all irrational, though. There’s nothing really there, right? But it won’t stop anyone’s skin from crawling.

So~ That all being said! Questions and comments go here and have fun!
