She didn't even move on the couch before she spoke, not even to open her eyes.

"I'm here, Sam," she spoke quietly, only sitting up afterward.

Diva knew what it was like to be blind. It had been a long time since she had been blind, not since the time she had spent in the tower, but she was always able to remember the effects of whatever experiment Joel had picked. The purpose was lost on her, even today, but she could remember the blindness of having no eyes at all, the blindness of having eyes too damaged to see, and the blindness that she imagined Sam to have, where Joel had injected something inside her, and she gradually found that she could no longer see.

Yet for her keen ears, she didn't exactly need her eyes to see anyways. That was why she could only imagine how Sam felt.

"I hope it's alright," she said softly, "I just didn't want Sam to be alone."

She shuffled a bit as she stood, brushing her hair back into place out of habit after laying down. The next moment, though, she was right before Sam, taking one of his hands into her own. She was smiling, and the warmth of her smile managed to carry into her tone.

"I'm right here, Sam."

She could feel the fear, that was sure, but even more telling was that she could hear it. Diva could hear his heart race, and when she did, her grip on his hands loosened. She laughed quietly, though ( ... )

"The only place that I'm needed right now is here, isn't it?" she said with a short laugh. Diva was leading him very carefully until they were at the couch. She coaxed him to sit down on the couch, and Diva sat down next to him. Of course, the couch was still warm from Diva laying on it, but only Sam would notice that.

She took his hands again, almost setting her head on his shoulder out of habit, but she at least caught herself before doing that much. It had been surprising enough for Sam to kiss her back earlier that day, so she didn't really want to push her luck.

"Ne," Diva started, "it is alright for me to stay, right? I wasn't sure, but I figured that if there were any time to come to see Sam...now would be a good time, after all."

"The chair?" she asked curiously, but as soon as she caught on, she laughed, shaking her head slightly, "Nonsense. Sam needs the bed. Besides, it'd be wasted if I used it. I don't sleep anymore. Well, I never had to sleep to begin with, but I liked to."

Diva paused for that moment, just running her fingers lightly over his hand in thought. Now that she had mentioned it, it had been at least a month or two since she had actually slept. After she had died, the nightmares had gotten worse, so she had decided to quit sleeping altogether. With that thought, she chuckled lightly, looking back to Sam.

"I didn't like the nightmares," she admitted, "so I stopped sleeping. Ne, so Sam can sleep and I'll stay awake."
