Nankai University is a nice campus. The lily pond is quite beautiful there in summer.

Gotta warn you, though, that only some gadgets are really cheap. The food is where you make a killing saving money.

No worries - I lived in China for a year so I have a pretty good of what's more affordable (in addition to being reliable).
