Life Is a House: Birthday Tribute to HeathI have been thinking for a long time about how to pay homage to Heath’s life and work on this most important day . . . which also happens to be the day my husband and I moved into our first house together (after living in apartment, condo, apartment) last year. You sure know how to teer at the heart, this was so very beautiful a word overused but what else can I say, I,m crying again. I feel like I can see Heath walk through the entire house touch her look over there. Its just impossible to think of him gone. Just can't do it.
Thank you for writing this.

I'm glad you liked it. I tried to capture some of the many ways he touched us all.

Now your doors are shut and shuttered; we can never get back in. But we stand here on the lawn, holding up our candles, breathless at the beauty of this house. The one that you built.
One of the great privilages for me is to be able to admire the house that he built. And I believe that house is here to stay.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I think so too--I like to think it's a structure that has enough rooms inside for all of us. :) Thanks for reading.

How insightful to liken a life to a house, or rather, a home. Just the fact that it was a memorable, important day for you- moving into the first place you owned, where the colors are yours, and you can drive a nail to hold the pictures of your loved ones; where you laugh, and cry, and sleep, and love, and dream, away from the world's prying eyes- where memories are made and lives are lived- this is not simply a house, but a home.

Heath was his own home- seemingly carried within himself, instead of within four walls. Your description of THAT home is brilliant.

Thank you.

You're so right--I thought about using home instead of house, but I wanted to talk about the actual physical structure. But he did have a home, and he seemed at home with himself. Very true. Thanks for reading. :)
