Nick entered their bedroom and saw the bathroom door closed. A smile stretched across his face. Ten to one his wife was soaking in the bathtub. Which is good because it meant that she was relaxing. She had seemed a little better since her last doctor's visit.
After a delicious dinner they lingered over wine, holding hands across the table. Nick's right hand held her left and his thumb toyed with her wedding ring. It was almost like the old days when it was just the two of them finding time away from SHIELD. Val resolved to schedule dates with her husband from now on.
She'd long ago slipped off her heels. Her stocking clad foot rested on his and she had her toes under his pant leg idly rubbing his skin. The candlelight gleamed off the sterling silver tags he was still wearing. She was glad he liked them.
It was the perfect evening, and not over yet. Oh, what could he have in mind next? Her stomach and lower swirled in response to her thoughts.
