The January issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine is announcing on Saturday that Atsushi Ohkubo is launching a new Soul Eater manga series named Soul Eater Not! in the next issue. The new series will run alongside the main Soul Eater series on January 12, 2011.

I hope that Okubo has a larger staff now, because two manga series at the same time would be difficult. If the quality and length of the normal Soul Eater chapters are unaffected by this, then I'm all for a side-story (assuming it'll be a short story). Here are some storylines that I'd hope to see:

1. Prequel/Backstory on the Eight Great Warriors, because it would be incredibly KICKASS to see how it ALL began. 8D

2. Prequel involving the Stein/Spirit/Maka's mom/Marie/etc generation as students of Shibusen. Also KICKASS.

3. Nenena's Genderflip AU, because that'd be hilarious, especially if EVERYONE is genderswitched (I can't get the idea of a Female!Shinigami-sama out of my head, too glorious).
