It's very rare that I will ever read a story with an original character inserted in as the main character, however, this story was rec'd to me by someone I know with very good taste and so I had to give this story a try. It was more than worth it.
Rae is not like other original characters inserted into the average fic, for one, she starts off very determined to make no plot changes or to befriend Naruto. Of course, things never go as planned, and Rae finds herself under scrutiny by a suspicious Sandaime and his army of ninja when she accidentally becomes the focus of chibi!Naruto's life.
There are no superpowers lurking in Rae's future, as the only thing that makes her stand out is her appalling lack of any kind of chakra - yep, she's worse off than Lee. She knows a few martial arts moves - just enough to stop her from getting mugged or harmed in the real world, but compared to ninja? Yeah, she's not a fighter. She's also not a genius, or beautiful, or amazingly competent - she's just...normal.
