*If you are looking at your Dreamberry, you can see ... a large, glowing yellow orb - and a large, dark red film comes down as it blinks. Yes, it is a rather large eye, peering into the Dreamberry... and as it pulls back, there's a flash of red scales and a powerful-looking jaw... before the picture shakes and then resolves itself into a rather ( Read more... )

[...

That looked like a dragon. A HUGE dragon.

... Maybe it's a movie effect- okay maybe not. The girl who just appeared is probably the humanoid form to whatever that was.

He's seen a few coupla demons back in his time but okay what the hell. Just gonna... stare, yeah. Give him a sec.]

It's a communication device.

...

So how old are you? [Not gonna bother with formalities at this point, if you're so full of yourself. >8|]

*There is suddenly a strange glow in her eyes, a literal fire behind them - though the expression on her face remains serene*

Old enough to have seen many ages of the world. The number does not matter.

[He doesn't miss that, and it does set him back a bit more on guard. ...A bit.]

...Okay, that might have been a bit fast, sorry for that. May I at least get an approximation? ...Say, over or under... ten thousand years, maybe? [/throws a random number]

How do you know your years are the same as mine? Are our worlds not under different skies?

...I have seen many of my children grow to adulthood. And my childrens' children. And their children, as life continues as it always has.

[...She does have a point. However!]

Time should still be relative to the world we come from. An ordinary human's lifespan is anywhere between sixty to eighty years if they live and die normally, basing on where I'm from. I'm not totally human myself, so I've been around quite a bit over the normal, too.

Then a year on your world is close to a year on mine.

Your eyes betray your age. They have seen much.

[That look was kinda sobering.]

...So you can already tell how old I am? Care for a guess, then?

Your eyes have seen war, and death - they make you seem older than you are.

...thousands of years. Several thousands, but not yet tens of thousands.

[...Someone's got a high passive insight.]

Fair enough. And if you can tell that much, then you've probably seen more than I could have guessed, in which case age becomes less relevant. ...My apologies, then, for responding rashly to your comments.

I usually go by Archer around here. Would that be enough?

*She wasn't born yesterday, y'know.*

There is no need to apologize. Your kind has often spoken words in passion that they would not have spoken with a cooler head. But it is that same passion that leads many of you to cherish life.

...You may call me Alexstrasza, if you wish.

[Yes, he realizes this, 8|;]

We tend to do that. ...Point taken. [She's either really pretentious, or knows very well what she's talking about. Probably wanna go with the latter, though. ...And that's quite a mouthful.]

Alexstrasza. Charmed. Would that be preceded with lady, or perhaps madam?

There are some who call me Queen.

I will not ask you to.

[...That explains a few things.]

But you won't forbid me as well.

I do not forbid it back in my home. Why should it be different here, child?

...It was a figure of speech. [That's gonna take some getting used to, being called 'child', of all things. ...And he's too childish to bring it up, too, ironically. 8|]

Nobility matters very much less here, but I for one still like to keep track of it.
