In which Sheryll attempted to fly to San Antonio and back

Yeah, so it was a month ago. It's taken this long to get over the trauma. No, just kidding. I've ridden Greyhound for days, a few hours in airports is a piece of cake by comparison. Oh, and airports have way better food than bus stations ( Read more... )

As always, I am awed by your fortitude, and happy to know you are back with us safe and sound :-)

Spending the night in an airport doesn't require too much fortitude, though enduring some of the turbulence we encountered before landing was pretty nervewracking.

Good that it didn't stress you out - my mom would have been!

SHERYLL!!!! I wish I'd known, I live 20 minutes from Dulles! (Unless you were flying into National?) We would have been happy to put you up for the night!

I did fly into Dulles. I didn't get the new flight sorted out until nearly 11 pm and I had to be at National by 7 the next morning. I grabbed a shuttle over to National and figured I'd catch a few winks before the flight. Would have, too, if they hadn't been doing construction there!

It never even occured to me to call anyone I know in the D.C. area. I just found someplace open that I could grab a sandwich, read my book for a while and then shuttled over to National. Good thing I ate at Dulles first, though, as National had nothing open until after 6 the next morning!

Ugh! Well, at least you get a better sunrise at National - does it come up over the Potomac or were you facing the wrong direction?

Not even a sunrise to enjoy. It was raining and cold and very dark. :(

Overnight adventures in DC and you didn't call me! I live 2 miles from National! Next time, we can all give you a grand party . . .

You're the second person in the DC area to give me hell. As I told Sharon, it was late and the next flight was early. I never even thought of calling anyone late on a weeknight. Next time I'll know better. I should keep everyone's numbers on hand just in case our Vegas flights in June go awry. :)

Sorry it was such a hassle! Glad you are such an experienced traveller and were able to ride it out.
