to logospilgrim for the gentle prodding by email. Yes, I'm pretty darn slack about posting to LJ. Oh, I draft lovely posts in my head traveling home from work but they tend to fall by the wayside in favour dinner and movie once I get home ( Read more... )

It is so good to see you here, most beloved :-)

I was so sorry to hear that you have been ill, and had broken your toe! I could not read that without wincing... Do take care today, eh?

And, that plucked at my heartstrings re:saving the bat ;-)

Perhaps we can all get together in the not too distant future? That would be marvelous.

I thought the bat story was really cool and regretted not posting it right away. The poor wee thing just flapped about the store in desperate search for an exit. A customer stayed on 'bat watch' while I went looking for the shirt, so it was easy to locate him and take him outdoors.

I would love a get together. I really hope lots of lead time on a gathering means we can all make it.

Hi, Sheryll! Nice to hear from you -- I was wondering how you had been doing.

Sorry about the broken toe! Have you ever asked your doctor whether something might be causing your bones to be weak? The broken toe bones might just be bad luck, or just due to the anatomy of your toes themselves, but multiple bone breaks raise questions. (There are a lot of things that can cause bones to weaken, including various medications.)

Hope you feel better soon!

I don't think there's anything causing the bones to be weak. I think it's just because they never actually do anything when you break a baby toe other than let it heal on its own. There's no attempt to realign bones or anything. They really do just tell you to not walk on it. Consequently, once broken, your baby toes are never the same again. I had the misfortune to break each of mine (at different times, of course) 15 - 20 years ago (for the first times ( ... )

Well, if the broken toes first happened 15-20 years ago and you've had no problems with other bones since, then there's probably nothing to worry about. I just figured I'd mention it -- my mom had a problem with broken toes, and it was due to osteoporosis. However, she was much older when she broke her toes.

I salute your toe's noble sacrifice to save the kitten!

Yeah, it sounds like a lot of breakage until you realise how long a time frame they've occurred in. I'm not particularly prone to breakage, even though doctors did warn me about possibly developing osteoporosis later in life. That was about 15 years ago and they've not cautioned me again. I suspect they'll give me a head's up if I need it.

The kitten didn't seem the least concerned about possible squishing. Then again, since when do cats concern themselves with their human counterparts unless they want something? ;)

Yay--it's good to hear from you! Boo on being sick though, and even bigger boos for the bus driver. Hope you didn't have any problems at work because of that.

Since we don't have Buckley's down here, what flavor is it? Cherry? Menthol? Other?

You don't have Buckley's? I'm pretty sure that's a good thing. Though it does work well, despite tasting absolutely vile. They even have commercials showing the awful faces people make after taking some! It's a seriously strong menthol flavour, strong enough to make the eyes water and the sinuses run the moment you swallow. Do you have the Vicks Vap-O-Rub, the menthol stuff you rub on your chest to help congestion? Buckley's tastes like you liquified some of that.

I didn't have problems at work, but mostly because I called ahead and let Jeremy know I was running late and why. Murphy Law dictated that it was a day where he didn't have the car and his mother was picking him up. She was sitting on the curb enjoying the sun when I got there. I apologised profusely for keeping her waiting. She's a very nice lady and if she was at all annoyed she never gave me any indication.

Oh, I know Vick's--we have that; my father used to swear by it when he had a cold. But liquid Vicks? Ewwwwwwwwggggggghhhhhhhhhh.

Exactly! It's pretty vile stuff but it works. If I'm still sniffling tomorrow I'll head to the pharmacy and get my own bottle. I'm probably one of the few people that doesn't make faces when I take it!
