I'll probably type of reviews of Stargate Universe and Sanctuary at some point--loved them both. But right now, I just want to say how I CANNOT WAIT for the next Sanctuary!!!

Funny you should say that, I was just thinking I should try watching Stargate. I think I told you I saw the movie (or one of the movies - it was about that Egyptian culture) and really enjoyed it.

Here's a question though... how is it similar to/different from Firefly? Because I know what I love about Firefly is that it's more about the characters than gadgets and stuff, and I'm not sure if that's what Stargate is.

Well, the Stargate franchise has been around for more than a decade, so they've had years to create a wonderful and complex show mythology. One of the things I've always loved about the franchise is that they blend science, mythology, and the military to create a unique show.

The character interaction is well done in all three Stargate series. The first two series are tonally different than the current one--the new one is a bit darker. I highly recommend all three series. Which one were you thinking of watching?

I would suggest starting with the first series, Stargate: SG-1, most of which is available on HuluIt is the series that sprang directly from the film and has the most to do with Egyptian and eventually other mythologies. It features Jack and Daniel from the film, though they are played by different actors ( ... )

Not really sure... I may as well watch whatever is on Hulu, though. I should watch the film again too - I was about ten or eleven when I saw it, so a lot of things probably went over my head, although I liked it enough that I still think about it often. :)

The whole Stargate franchise is really well done. Let me know if you decide to watch it. :)

I want to hear why you liked Sanctuary. It is never a must-see for me but I thought this last episode was interesting from a CGI viewpoint (as they always are) but there were so many inconsistencies and coincidences and stupid decisions that I found it frustrating. Plus - as you know I am not a shipper so I don't care about relationships that don't affect the plot and I thought the relationship stuff was irrelevant. I'd much rather have the writers link everything together (that's good writing) so that relationships affect the plot and are not just an emotional sideshow. Obviously you liked it a lot so want to find out why :)

To be honest with you, I liked it because of the turf war between the squid and the scorpion thingie, lol. You have to remember that I'm the same person who became a Ronon fangirl following the warehouse scene in Sateda. I also grew up watching Godzilla films, lol. :D

No, I'm not a Helen/Will shipper either. I do like their friendship dynamic, though, I was suprised I liked this episode, given the lack of team.

Ah - got it. Yes - the big fight was fun in a Godzilla vs. King Kong way!
