Ramblings about Star Trek

Feb 14, 2009 12:55

Okay, I've been pretty silent about the upcoming Star Trek film, but it's getting close, so I guess I should start weighing in. I'm a long time fan of the show. I grew up watching TOS. I also watched every single spin-off, cringed about all the continuity train wrecks we saw in Enterprise, and... I'll come right out and say it: I have a Star ( Read more... )

I mean I'm excited about Quinto - but I'm just as crazy happy about this casting too. :D

He's just so spot-on. And he seems to have the mannerisms down perfectly.

*gush*

I'm kind of over Zach Quinto, actually...Personally I can't wait to see Simon Pegg as Scotty ^_^ And Anton Yelchin!

I was never all that impressed with Quinto, but I've always thought I was in the minority.

Simon Pegg will either be a brilliant choice or an unfortunate one. I like the actor, but I won't be convinced he's Scotty until I see more of him in the role.

Yelchin always delivers.

I have to admit, half the reason I'm so excited about Simon Pegg as Scotty is because I know a guy who looks EXACTLY LIKE him, so it's just always fun to see him in something. I'm pretty optimistic about how he'll do, though; he does really well with comedy which people are always saying is harder than drama (no idea if that's true, but there you go).

And Anton Yelchin is my newest celebrity crush, so him + Star Trek = Geek love overload.

That is a fine McCoy that is. yum ^^

I grew up watching TOS. I also watched every single spin-off, cringed about all the continuity train wrecks we saw in Enterprise, and... I'll come right out and say it: I have a Star Trek uniform hanging in my closet.

dito!
Only, well, let's say I grew up with re-runs, what with me being barely in my 20s, and I don't think I ever wore that uniform except on the first day I got it *is ashamed*

Okay, I've been pretty silent about the upcoming Star Trek film,

Who could blame you?
I mean the producers have been pretty silent about the upcoming Star Trek film too XD

Anyways I'm eager to see what they've done with it. The Franchise really could do with a bit of fresh blood.

I watched TOS in reruns, but everything else I saw when it first came out.

I don't fit into my uniform anymore. I wore it a time or two, but they make them so damn small.

If this movie does well and is a worthy product, I'll be very happy, because I want my franchise to thrive. I remember how excited I was when each of the movies came out--you knew it was the most recent movie, but there would be more. I want that excitement again.

I've seen interviews that hint at several more movies, and that pleases me.

The funny thing about McCoy is that the older I get, the more I appreciate how well-developed the character was compared with all the others. I just know Karl Urban will nail it.

I'm more impressed with him than I am any of the other castings. Not that the others are bad, necessarily. I just think he's the best.

Yep, he's also an awesome actor which will and can act well, too. :)

Which rank is the costume? :-P

I'm happy about him too, he actually seems to love TOS, which is awesome.

Commander. :D

It's always better if the actors have an interest in the franchise. It shows in their portrayal, I think.
