Poetry poll

I'm reading T.S. Eliot right now, and though I do enjoy it, I'm reminded that sometimes I think rhyming poetry is overdone and clumsy. Even a couple of Eliot's poems seemed awkward to me. On the other hand, I love Byron and Keats and many other poets through the ages who have used rhyme quite well. Overall, though, I'm suspicious of poetry that ( Read more... )

In the rare times I read/write poetry now, it's both rhyming and non-rhyming, although I find non-rhyming poetry can often be more effective, especially when it still keeps some sort of rhythm.

That said, a good rhyme in a poem just feels so good. It's some kind of word pr0n or something to me - I don't get it, but it's sooo good.
