I can't read the IMBD message boards. The people are so homophobic and stupid about tiny little details that it drives me insane.

I should know better than to read anything from that site. It almost always pisses me off.

I try to avoide IMDb as much as possible. Their forums are almost as evil as TWoP's. Who cares if the man smokes in public?! Gah!

Then the conversation degenerated into a rant about Tom Cruise. Doesn't anyone talk about an actors' acting ability?

Ha, who cares if he smokes in public? People are silly.

The IMDB boards ARE evil. And the people on the CSI one are really mean, and they are all about 14, so it shouldnt bother me, but it does. So I avoid that whole area of the internet universe.

Actually, it SHOULD bother us. If they're like this when they're 14, what will they do with their beliefs when they're doctors, teachers, and lawyers?

Gwen, here.

Whoever is getting her panties twisted over George smoking obviously hasn't read the press for the past three years. Almost all the CSI actors smoke-with Marg being the exception. In fact, most actors smoke because of the immense pressures they face. George quit around season 4 but apparently has lapsed into the habit again.

In a way I blame George's handlers and CBS for trying to portray him as being a clean-cut conservative from Texas. They invite narrow-minded or callow people to envision George in that manner and project their sensibilities onto him.

Unfortunately it's George who bears the brunt for these lousy creative decisions. In the long run it might be best he lose these kinds of fans as it's easy to see they live in a rigid world and are hard to please.

Hi, Gwen.

I completely agree. So many people seem to have such grossly unrealistic expectations of actors like George. Not surprisingly, the same IMDB poster attacked George for, in her words, being "at least bi." She felt that "as a celebrity he is an example to the young." She also called him a "buttsucker." I guess that in her book, name calling is more morally acceptable than smoking.

For bigots hurling epithets is second nature. I have to wonder how George truly feels when the image his handlers and CBS project have projected cultivated a fanbase of the prejudiced. It's unfortunate that nearly every forum, in which to discuss him, is populated by narrow-minded harpies.

Having met and observed George he definitely more thoughtful and intelligent than his macho image allows. I wish I and others can see it more often.
