Well, it.. here's the thing: I don't have a problem with big, gorey, over the top violence or warfilms at all. Smaller things, like the stuff in the Saw movies? Makes me want to faint. This movie has an interesting blend of the two, but mostly it's really horrid violent things on a small scale. Like this scene where a guy gets bashed in the face repeatedly with a bottle, and instead of cutting away like most directors would, it keeps cutting back to the face bashing.

So, um, you know... have fun. Don't let this put you off the movie, it's good!

Go see this movie! It's totally awesome but the R rating btw is completely deserved. If you know anything at all about the Spanish Civil War under Franco, it becomes that much more interesting too (nerds all over the place and goes off to read Hemmingway). I cried because I'm such a girl though. And if you can, see it subbed rather than dubbed. Spanish is so very lyrical and it suits the mood of the movie much better than english.

PS did you get a new layout?

I would NEVER watch dubbed over subbed if I can avoid it! There is just something so wrong in that.

It's an awesome, awesome movie. But be prepared for excessive violence and horror (well, the "pale man" freaked me out). I didn't know how bad it was before I saw it and since I'm a bit of a wuss, it was a bad viewing experience for me. I like scary/violent films, but I like to be prepared for them.

Also sorry to hear about your cat. Mine went into a deep funk after he was snipped, it was awful to witness.

Ack, you see, I'm a wuss, too! I do want to see the movie, but can't decide if I should just go for it and hope I can cover my eyes in time for the bad parts, or just wait and rent so I can fast forward.....

And my cat seems back to his normal dumb self. The bow-legged walk, while highly comical, appears to have passed.
