Because it's the holidays and such, I thought maybe I would suggest something along those lines.
So what if a big reason Sherlock doesn't like to participate in Christmas dinners is because he has a HUMONGOUS family? Like, several aunts and uncles, and they have kids and some of those kids have kids, etc. I'm sure he really doesn't want to have to deal with all that.
But he goes because it's easier than not, and anyway the kids ADORE him. Uncle/Cousin Sherlock is simply the best; he's weird, he knows secrets, and his coat is fun to hide in, among other things.
TL;DR Sherlock is actually good with his family's kids, and plays with them during his family's holiday party.

The crisp air of London was welcoming as they made their way home later that night, walking in silence. That was when something occurred to John

Oh man, what a lovely surprise for today! I checked just on the off chance (since I, too, am supposed to be getting ready for a party that starts in an hour) and was pleasantly shocked to find it filled! Oh thank you thank you so much! One of the best gifts I could receive. Not only did you get some playful Sherlock there, but kissing too? What more could be said? Superb. Made me grin like an idiot the whole time.
Now I'll have to post some art for this after all the hub bub c:

SNEAKY SNEAKY! ;O (and by that I mean; Hi, writer of fill here :D ) That is such a beautiful piece of work, made me smile like a loonatic (I KNEW there was a good reason to go this far back in the part..!) No, but seriously; it's adorable!
Aw, y'don't bookmark to check back on comments? Regardless, I'm so glad you like it c: I was hoping it was all right despite not being a strictly specific scene.
