No matter what Sherlock did, despite the evidence against him, despite thinking John might have the seeds of doubt planted against him when he didn't, despite playing John as a hostage, despite running into a bus, despite him even calling John with his 'confession' John continues to believe his innocence.

Sherlock reflects this and wonders why. How does a man like John Watson continue to stay loyal to someone like him who never deserved it? Angst please.
