Sally and Anderson are the annoying co-anchors (presenters). Sherlock is the hard-hitting investigative reporter. Mike is the jolly meteorologist. Molly is the traffic reporter (or overly-sappy human interest reporter). Harry is the fast-talking sports reporter. Mrs. Hudson is the gossipy makeup woman/hair stylist. Lestrade is the long-suffering director. Mycroft is the meddling station owner. Jim is the lunatic who threatens to blow up the station if his manifesto isn't read live on the air. John is the unassuming camera man who kicks his ass.
And if you wanna throw in some Sherlock/John, Mycroft/Lestrade... well you just go right on ahead.

I have obviously gone insane. Just...obviously, I have. I don't even know what this is. It's sort of like a fic about a show about a show and gahhh don't even listen to me. This is unbeta'd, because both my betas are gone on vacation, so any errors are mine and mine alone, and you are free to point them out to me.
Episode 1
“...and now we’re off for a short commercial break, but we’ll be right back, isn’t that right, Sally?”
“It certainly is, Anderson. Don’t go away, folks, we’ll be right back here on Channel 221 with all the evening news and then some.”
“And out! Back from commercial in five!”
“Oi, Anderson! Donovan! Where the hell is Sherlock? Have either of you two seen him? He’s on in fifteen minutes!” The two reporters at the desk immediately drop their picture-perfect smiles and the whole studio gives a sort of collective silent groan.
Greg Lestrade, producer and director of the highly acclaimed-no, really-Channel 221 Evening News, gazes around at the resounding silence and lowers his head into his hands

John doesn't mind his job at all. In fact, he rather likes his job. Being a cameraman is not at all a bad job. The people are nice, the hours are at least regular, and it's fairly easy. It's not really what he would like to be doing, but at least it pays the bills.
Harry helped him get the job. They always used to joke about how they both ended up in the TV biz, with Harry on one side of the camera and John on the other. Harry helped him snag the interview, but he's confident he got the job based on his own skill.
Sometimes he wishes it were a tad bit more exciting.
::
He finds Sherlock after the show, and gets his first real look at him. He’s standing around rather irritably, having his makeup removed by a motherly-looking old lady.
"Um, wow," he thinks, hoping the blood rushing to his cheeks and...other places...isn't too obvious. Sherlock is tall. And thin. And has messy, curly hair. And--oh god--those cheekbones. It's like someone took all John’s buttons and lined them up and tap-danced on them

OP here!
EEEEEEEEEEE! Great job so far!
I love how Sherlock just couldn't seem to finish telling John his life story without slipping in a "Shut up Anderson" at the end. And I love that John is new to the station. That will make things a lot more interesting! And he's already smitten with Sherlock of course!
I also already like Mrs. Hudson just for that wink.

Yes! It's perfect. Forget Anchorman it's Broadcast News! I once heard the story of a sports camera op who got injured on the field, the American football field, during a 49's game. She had her shoulder reset to make it easier to hold the field camera. That's dedication. And yeah, field camera work and studio camera work is a bit different.

Episode 2
“So, aren’t you glad I introduced you to Sherlock?”
John looks at his sister, who’s sitting backward on her desk chair, leaning her head and arms on it’s back.
“Harry, you didn’t introduce me to Sherlock. He introduced himself.”
“I set you up for this job, and because of that, Sherlock introduced himself to you.”
“And are never going to let me forget it, apparently.”
“Nope. You’re dodging the question, by the way.”
“Piss off, Harry. Don’t you have work to be doing?”
“Yep. But the tennis match I’m supposed to be covering isn’t done yet.”
“When did it start?”
“Fifteen hours ago.”
“Shouldn’t you be covering it anyway?”
“That’s what I have interns for. But really, Sherlock...” she lowers her voice and looks around. “...the man is luscious. I wouldn’t mind a piece of that, and this is coming from someone absolutely not attracted to the

Sally Donovan backs hurriedly out of the room, banging the door behind her with a garbled “sorry, sorry, I’ll come back later, sorry,” and all but dashes to the newsroom, where she slams her hands down on the main desk, effectively attracting the attention of everyone in the room.
“You will never guess,” she says breathlessly, “what I just saw.” Without waiting for anyone to answer, she plunges on. “In-in the conference room. I walked in on Greg and that bloke from the network, you know, freak’s brother. Walked in on them! They were making out! Practically eating each other’s face off!
