The first part sounds like What we do by KeelieThompson1, but it might not be it.

Summary: When Lestrade meets John with Sherlock, he pretends to not know him. In fact, he remembers John very well: he'd talked John off the ledge of a bridge. He never saw John again until that moment with Sherlock.
