What a horrible woman -- but as such a mistress of manipulation, how much could she be believed? [ETA: sorry, I had to reread the ending. Why did I believe she'd got the letter to Sherlock?]

The original is a brilliant bit of psychological interpretation, and this is a fine remix. More than a simple change of POV, it offers a take on Mummy's motives, even an attempt to humanize her.

I hope this story and the original appear in recs soon, to find a wider audience.
