Oh, stunning. I love the use of formatting to illustrate Sherlock's mind, sly and slippery and exact ("seventeen steps") and stoned all at the same time. There's such a beautiful rhythm to the structure as well, a crescending wave. Really loved this piece of work - especially as a second crack at the original story: the words hark back, of course, but the change in point of view and reversal of timing works so very well indeed for both. Love this!

You flatterer, you.
I can't take credit for the seventeen steps -- it's canon, from Doyle himself. But I do love this stoned Sherlock and I can't describe how relieved and pleased I was that you liked it. Thank you!

I thank you, SKULL THANKS YOU, the only one with a grain of sense thanks you.
This was fun to play with, and I'm very happy you enjoyed it.

And all was revealed - by the gap of the dressing gown, I'm sure. It has nothing to do with just rereading Christopher Lee's autobiography, but I want to know what movies the skull has seen. Scaramouche?

Calm down, he's still wearing pajama bottoms and a ratty T-shirt with acid stains on its hem. But Lestrade does have a penetrating eye...
Skull watched entirely too many movies in his youth and old age. Bereft of biscuits-for-brains, he may very well be thinking of Song of Bernadette.

This is wonderful. You say crack but I totally believe this happened :) I love the many and various voices in Sherlock's head - both hilarious and a little pitiable "I miss John". I'd love to know what Lestrade's response to all this is. Although I'm thinking that one voice in Sherlock's head was correct when it said Sherlock should make a move when sober. Lovely remix!

Thank you! I'm actually working on a part 2, Lestrade section. Sober would have been a better choice, but Sherlock does like to hear himself talk.

**

why he rejected you you were young, you were high he’s straight he’s not that straight you drool when you’re high he wanted you TO KNOW YOU IS TO LOVE YOU

It’s really not.

Oh, I loved this! It was both amusing and a touch... heartbreaking? at the same time. I love how the text mirros the cacophony of voices inside Sherlock's head, that was very well done! (It reminded me of the way Sherlock angrily muttered "Shut up!" to himself in The Empty Hearse, when he kept hearing John's mocking comments, so that does seem to be how Sherlock's mind would work - understandably confusing if he was high as well.)

I'll be sure to put a link to this story on my fic once the authors are revealed!

Thank you! I'm so happy you liked this. Your story was moving, for Sherlock's rejection and Lestrade's concern. Sherlock does seem to enjoy his own company, without choice, maybe, and conversions -- or commentary -- in his head. I like voices better than the "mind palace". Working on a second half!
