Help!

I've been messing around this afternoon, but I don't seem to be making LiveJournal progress.  Here's a sum of what I know and don't know (if anyone can help!):

WHAT I KNOW

1.  I have an identity as Sherlock999

2.  I have access to thedinghy and to 43tags

3.  I know how to make friends (!)

4.  I know how to see the comments and entries from friends

Every time you create a post, there should be a line that pops up at the bottom that says WRITE TAGS (in which case you make some up) or get tags from the LIST (in which case you click the list and there they be).

to see the tags that a community is using, you have to first select 'post to community' at the top of the entry page, and then select the community that you want to post to. When you go down to the tags field, the 'select' option will then bring up that community's tags.

Arrctic, you are sooo patient with me! Thanks so much. So if I understand, I start a new post, find "post to community" at the top of the entry page, then select the community to post to. Here I go!

no problem we've all been there. my guidance above is assuming you're using the original posting page. there's a newer one that some people end up on sometimes that works differently.... (can they make it any more difficult? I know.) If what I said makes no sense, I'll revise my instructions.
