There is Eleven hate going on on my flist! THIS IS NOT OKAY WITH ME!!!!!!! First of all, Fandom March Madness always causes wank, so I never participate, but apparently Sherlock and Eleven have made it to the final four. Personally, I think that's wonderful. Sherlock Holmes and the Doctor are my two favorite characters ever invented in the history ( Read more... )

doctor who, sherlock, griping

Aw, I guess Brennan lost then...:( Oh well...

LOL I'm glad you at least agree about Moffat on a personal level, I mean if you like his work that's fine, but I want to facepalm so hard whenever people are all "Moffat is God" and such, because please no!

Also love the LoM mood theme! :D

Most of the time when he talks I want so badly to be able to hate the things he writes, but I can't. I can't pretend something is not good because I hate the creator. If Glenn Beck wrote a fiction novel that was actually good, I would have to admit they were good despite hating him so much. I have never read 'The Christmas Sweater' or 'The Overton Window', but if they were good, I would have to admit it. I do not plan to read them, as 'The Overton Window', at least, seems to be a blatant piece of far right, fundamentalist, paranoid propaganda.
My point, though, is that despite my wish for Moffat to write everything he's ever going to write and then die choking on his own vomit while every woman in the vicinity kicks him in the crotch, his work is really effing good.

Lol at that image...well it's easier for me because I don't care much for his work either (I think he's pretty crap at character development and depth, which is "you don't need character development" attitude probably contributes to, and I have issues with his plots as well, and the way he uses the same tropes over and over again with little innovation thematically, etc). Season 5 for me is easily the weakest season of NuWho, I found most of it to be pretty boring and bland, with the exception of a tiny handful of episodes (like Amy's Choice and The Lodger, neither written by him). And GiTF is an OOC trainwreck I mostly try to forget about...*shrug* Haven't seen Sherlock son can't judge there, but yeah, based on DW I'm not a fan of him *or* of his work really--and I think most of the people hating on him in this FMM deal are in the same boat, they're not just annoyed at the man personally, they don't like his work either.

I didn't like s5 NEARLY as much as I loved RTD's Who. I hate GitF with a fiery burning passion, but I love The Empty Child/Doctor Dances and Blink and SitL/FoD and s5 was good if bland. I LOVE Vincent and the Doctor, though.
As for Sherlock, it's one of the best things I've ever seen in my life.

Agree on every point in this. I hate Moffat with a burning passion, but Sherlock is so freaking awesome. And I even love Eleven even though I miss Ten constantly.

Still, Fandom March Madness is getting insane right now. Eleven against Veronica Mars is insane.

I'd tentatively say that a lot of the unhappiness about both Sherlock and Eleven making it to the last round is that they both knocked out some pretty iconic and awesome women, and it feels like a repeat of last year sometimes. Because god knows I adore Eleven, and I find Sherlock a fascinating character, but I'd rather Sherlock hadn't beaten the women he did. I can accept Eleven beating the people he did somewhat, because I do really, really love him. It's just - hard. :(

Still, hating is bad bad bad, and makes me sad.

The specific people I'm seeing are hating on Eleven for one or two reasons, these reasons being: They hate Moffat and/or they wish Ten had beaten Eleven. They are even stating these as reasons. God knows I love Ten, and RTD's era was definitely my favorite, but I just can't get behind glorifying one Doctor and condemning another ( ... )

Oh, well that's just flat-out sucky. Ugh. (Though to be honest, I've only seen essays on how awesome the characters they love are this year. Then again, I haven't been following it that closely.) People bashing characters, though - that always makes me sad. Particularly when they are as fabulous as Eleventy.

THIS. Very much this. FMM turns fandom into a big boiling pot of negativity, and I wish the people on flist for whom it is causing grief would just ignore it. It's only meaningful if you let it be.

Heehee, I did not now any of this even happened. I have seen no talk of FMM on my flist (except by me, and I am pretty mellow I hope) I don't know anything about Moffat or Dr, Who, but I love Sherlock...still. Yeah, there were some good points being made on the comm about how Sherlock was going up against some amazing women who had done amazing things for YEARS and Sherlock was supposed to be based on the TV show...you know, the one with THREE EPISODES! Same with the Doctor...you can't really compete with the ENTIRE collection of Doctors and Sherlocks EVER and expect to stand a chance. Fair? Maybe not. Still. I am really glad that Sherlock got into the final four. I haven't fallen for a show that hard that fast in a long...well, ever really. ♥
