I pitch in with kadrin here--the kestrel is probably my favorite pic of 'em all, so far. Hmm, maybe some day you can go in there with your real camera? (Just turn off the flash, of course!)
Birds of prey ftw, but it's cool to see some of the other animals I didn't get to see when we brought turtle-san over there...
And I think there's something about being able to take care of something that really can't help itself, as opposed to perfectly capable, fully functioning (or supposedly perfectly capable, fully functioning) human beings who can't seem to find their own asses with two hands and a map. But maybe that's just me? (And there's more to it than that, but I oughta be in bed. But that's got to be at least a part of it.)
I'm hoping to care for the kestrels and other raptors sometime soon. Right now we have two that I know of.
I will post a pic of Turtle-san & tell his story next, I think.
...Yeah, I think you have hit the nail right on the thumb! That and things will never change at work, no matter how hard I try -- partly because I really don't want what they have to offer. ^^;; On the other hand, the Wildlife Center may open any number of future doors!
*grin* The whole place is awesome. I've been tempted to drop in after work on bad days for an hour.... "Give me stuff to clean, damnit, I want this day to have meant something!"
Raven will warn you about squirrels ("SQUIRREL!"), other crows ("CAW-CAW-CAW!"), phoenixes ("HO'OUUUU!") and Barrett ("SHEE-IT!"). That is one useful crow.
Really, they're taking care of me, too. ♥ If it weren't for this volunteer work, I'm not sure where my stress would have gotten me by now. >_<;;

None of the pics are as nice as yours, but I'll blame that on the cell phone.
Yeah, that's the ticket! ♥

I still have to get pictures of Sid and Vincent, the turkey vultures, and of the fox.
