[So he might've been a liar when he said he'd be in Sergei's all day. He did find time to push his cookly duties off on Zeke and head up top-side to check on a certain someone.
Herz takes to the railing next to Kage and shoots him a smile.]
[Kage accepts the granola bar, then peels back the lid to sniff at it. Whatever it is, it smells sweet.]
Nah, I don't got allergies. Shit, we had this back ho--on Al-Hebb. Granola.
[It's perfect. Kage won't eat most fruits, but berries and nuts and sugar? Those are things he likes. He dips his hand in and pulls out a chunk, then chews at it.]
Yeah. Uh, if it grows on a tree and it ain't a nut, I don't eat it. No apples, figs, bananas, oranges, cherries, that kinda stuff.
[Mimmi finally figured out what to ask for with her stupid frog. She's aware she might not like the answer she's going to get, if the crew even give her an answer, but it's been driving her crazy. It's about time she got rid of this frog thing anyway.
So Mimmi shows up behind the First Mate, a small box in hand with the jumpy frog inside. Here goes]
Oh, um, First Mate Kage? I believe I have a question now.
[Mimmi takes a few more steps forward and stops. She's at a reasonable distance now, okay? She doesn't want anyone's personal space invaded. Especially hers. But that's besides the point.
The point is, she has her question, and now she's too dumbfounded to say anything. She takes a moment to shuffle her feet awkwardly.
God she's such a coward]
Um, when... When people on the ship disappear... What happens to them? Where do they go?
They're dead. Or they ain't dead, but they're gonna be dead soon. Or they wish they were dead.
[It's grim and unpleasant, but... Well, Kage's in a pretty grim and severe mood. He inhales deeply, and he can feel that pressure in his lungs, on his shoulders. He glances out at the ocean again (nothing there) and then back to Mimmi. ]
['Horizon,' huh? When he thinks about it, he hasn't stared good and hard at the ocean yet. Just a cursory glance. So, he decides to head up and take a look. Maybe he'll really see a crust of land come into view on the edge of the ocean... an end to a trip he's enjoying so far.
Keats heads over to do some ocean staring. It suits his mood anyway... he's got a lot of shit to work out in his head. This place is just right, but he's not right. People see him wrong, or so he thinks. It's disconcerting.
And he's still thinking about that when he reaches deck 01. The smell of smoke has him compulsively reaching into his jacket for a cigarette, even before he notices Kage. He kinda nods to the other guy and lights up... he doesn't plan to stay too long, if he seems to be disturbing him. He takes a good long look out into the water.]
[Oh, what a perfect time to hand over a gift to the first mate! ...even if the man didn't sound too great, but a Cure spell could fix that up, hopefully.
The Mithra mage made her way to the first deck, besides, she was on the search for everyone on the boat. She was dressed for the occasion with what looked like a Santa costume but wasn't.]
[She laughed a little but was all smiles. It was a bit on the large side but fairly light.]
Its alright, you can open that up if you want to and don't worry about giving me something in return. I'm not an delievery girl, just a Smilebringer for today!

Have you eaten yet?

[He pulls out a granola bar he fashioned himself with nuts and berries and a lil' peanut butter. It's kept safe in a plastic sandwich bag.
He offers it to Kage.]
I dunno, you-you-you could keep it for--for later, I guess.
Unless you're allergic to peanuts.
[He pulls back the bag, studying the other man.]
You're not, are you? It--it's just citrus you can't have.

[Kage looks over his shoulder at Mimmi, then back at the ocean. The cigarette in his fingers is almost gone now and he drags on it as she approaches.]
Well, don't shout. C'mere, girlie.

[Sorry, but Kage's kinda humourless right now.]

You need a light or something? [He'd been half about to slide his lighter into his pocket, but he stops mid-motion in case Kage wants to borrow it.]

Hello!

Happy Starlight Celebration!

Hey. What's this?
[He takes the package, tosses his cigarette overboard and turns it over.]
Yeah, same to you. I dunno your customs, girlie, am I supposed t'open this now or give you somethin' first?

[Kage is charmed a bit, despite himself and he carefully starts to open the box to find...?]
