Oh, Destiny! What an interesting choice for the prompt! This is a really nice look into how Destiny might develop--and how lonely it must be to be a self-aware ship whose crew never arrives. How very sad for her.

Actually, Destiny was the first one that came to my mind when I read the prompt - I'm on a bit of a Sentient Ship kick right now, so that may have something to do with it... I'm glad you thought it was interesting - thanks for the comment!

I must admit I cried a little bit when I wrote that part... To me Destiny really is a character, and I miss her so much... I'm glad you liked it, too.

I always wondered what Destiny thought about in those long centuries cruising through the universe. She is so alive in your writing, I found myself feeling terribly sad at her loneliness. In the end, the Ursini and the seedship give themselves up to save her, and that she recognizes the dying of another sentient beings.

You had be weeping with Carmen, I always do when reminded that she never had a chance to breathe life, to be held by her parents and kissed goodnight.

Oh that last one is good. Nursemaid to her crew, the not-original beings who finally arrived to inhabit her and she's guarding them closely. And she is sad, quite touching. But hopeful too, just waiting for time when they will emerge to disrupt her systems once again. I miss her and them.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Destiny is very much a character for me, and I'm sure we would have seen much more of her in subsequent seasons. What a shame that we never will.

Great arc for Destiny! I really loved the first section, and then the fact that she bonded with the crew after discovering she could communicate with TJ's baby. Cool concept, that!

Thanks for the kind words, I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. I find the concept of a self-aware Destiny quite fascinating...
