Signs and songs

Being my own student and teacher for learning sign language is FUN. I feel like I've learned so much already in the past days at ASL sites. They say you're only supposed to learn five words a day for a new language though, so I might need to slow it down a bit. I'm watching The L Word scenes as study material. I took ASL classes last summer, and I'm really sad that I forgot most of it due to lack of practice. I loved learning it and knowing it! I remember translating one of Regina Spektor's songs into ASL while I still knew it.

What Regina song did you do?

It sucks that it's so hard to retain new languages as an adult... but you might remember more than you think if you picked it up again.

at IU i enrolled in ASL for my foreign language requirement. after 4 semesters of it i was lucky enough to cap it all off with a student production of Children of a Lesser God that i was in. i wished i remembered more. it really is a beautiful form of communication. i still find myself signing out random lyrics occasionally. for fun. keep it up!

That sounds fun! I wish I could have taken it as a foreign language too.. if only it were offered more.
