oh my GOD.

oh my god.

That.

urhghasdnaslkjfdlkjsdf. That was frightening and terrible and amazing and fantastic. Augh. I don't know how exactly to say-..."you kept it 'objective'" is the closest I can get to wording the idea. But like.

I'm sorry, I'm so not coherent right now. urgh. That was AMAZING.

And then. Knowing what happens after and. FFFFFFFF. Your writing is gorgeous in itself; this particular story was somewhat sickening. AH THEY ARE SO TWISTED. Poor Peter. Poor Tony. I guess what I was trying to say about objectivity was that you maintained the absolute CONFUSION about who's right that Marvel seems to try to do. 'let's have our hero make a douchebag move', and then 'let's give our villian a perfect justification for his villiany'.

Also, the sex was. ughn. I feel twisted because I enjoyed that, when Tony was so...horrible. He was just horrible, there isn't really a better descriptor.

...FAIL!COMMENT. LOL. This is one of those rare fics that really DID make me lose coherency.

Firstly, this was not a fail!comment in the slightest! It made me grin and feel proud of myself, because you made me feel accomplished and like I've conveyed what I wanted with this fic.

JUST. JUST. *hands* Okay, the Peter/Tony dynamic in Civil War - the Amazing Spider-Man tie-ins especially - killed me. Angst is my favourite thing in the world so I enjoyed their arguments and Peter's doubts; the Tony/Steve doesn't even need mentioning because it was pitch perfect. The scene in the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier brig broke me.

Regarding the confusion: to tell you the truth, after reading though and thinking deeply about everything I'm still not sure whose side I am supposed to be on, because I see both Steve and Tony's point. I could discuss this for years, sorry.

He was horrible, wasn't he. :( To be honest I was worried I made him too OOC, but then his character is different in Civil War than in the rest of comic canon, right? And I agree about it being sickening, but that's just how I pictured that it might be. I don't know, if I were ( ... )

This kinda freaks me out but I rather imagine it was meant to be, so kudos and all.

At first I was all, "Whoa, Tony's a rapist, that's taking things a little bit far," but the more I think about it ... well, a) as you pointed out, Tony is pretty screwed up during Civil War, so within that context perhaps it's not that much of a stretch, and b) the Tony/Peter dynamic, much as I ♥ it to death, is incredibly screwed up. I'm convinced that Tony did actually care a lot about Peter, it's just that he didn't see that as an obstacle to manipulating him almost from the moment they got to know each other. So this is just more manipulation, but more so because Tony's gone so far over the edge.

Thank you! It wasn't actually meant to be rape, I'm not sure why people see it as rape, because I don't. I just see it as forced in the beginning, but eventually consensual, because Peter does agree to it.

They are all so screwed up during Civil War, and the Tony/Peter dynamic, just because it's the most screwed up (second only to the Tony/Steve dynamic, obviously), is my favourite for it.

And I agree with you! I passionately love/hate Tony, and as I keep saying, I'm probably one of the three people on the Internet who can still like him after the SHRA and all the events which took place during Civil War. He does keep saying he's a futurist, so. Uuurgh, I don't know, I should hate him and think him the biggest wanker, but I just can't.

Thanks for reading!

Well, speaking only for myself, IMO Peter's consent is suspect because he's being coerced. Of course Peter has the strength to get away from Tony, but he's been put in a position where either submitting to or rejecting Tony has severe negative consequences, and rejection is the one that could actually hurt his family down the line (if he loses Tony's protection and his legal status, etc). Not to mention Peter's emotional fragility - he's attracted to a father figure he no longer feels he can trust, and ashamed of that attraction; Tony seems to be aware of that and uses it to manipulate him. So of course he'll go along with Tony's advances, but allowing Tony to bring him off after the guy's already started assaulting him, when Tony has such power over him and his family - to me, that can't be true consent. That's just trying to survive ( ... )

I don't feel as if I'm being lectured, it's okay. I do think you are right, and the consent is definitely very, very dubious, and that your interpretation is correct - I was just saying that I wouldn't go as far as to call it rape? Hmm.
