That is so good, I hope you don't mind I've printed it out to read again. I love your writing.

Yes, that's terrible, I order you to force it all back into the printer immediately!

Course not, I'm really flattered and pleased that you'd go to the trouble. Thanks! :)

That story should be in a real book of anthologies, it should. It's great and I adore it, and I hope you soon get the recognition you deserve, and I'll even go so far to say that I'm proud to know you!

I love the tiniest little details and the larger evocation of a whole world that feels substantial. Reminds me very much of Susannah Clarke! I'm reading her short stories "Ladies of Grace Adieu" and this one would fit in there perfectly. Well done!

(I tried to leave you feedback in the forum, but failed miserably.)
Thanks for pointing us over there!!

Wow, I love Susannah Clarke, so that's puffed me up considerably. :) Thanks so much! I haven't read 'Grace Adieu' yet, but it's on my list.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

who could definitely write books and be published!

I'm trying my very bestest to make this be true. Well, ok, I could probably try a bit harder, but one has to play the odd game of spider solitaire...

Hmm, well I have sort of looked into this in the past - I gather the general opinion is that it's not really worth the money unless it's something like a pamphlet on steam engines, or local history - something that would only have a minority readership anyway. I think it's quite hard to make bookshops interested in stuff you've published yourself, especially fiction. Not to say people haven't done it and had success, but they're far and few between.

If I ever finish anything approaching a novel (finishing would be a good start, I feel) my plan is to send it out to lots of people, and then when it comes back a hundred times, I send it out to a hundred more people, and if after all that still no one's interested, I figure I can always just put it up here, where it's free, and people seem to like me. :)

Meanwhile I will have written something better. Well, that's the plan, anyway.
