For an episode with so much fail at its core, it still managed to provide plenty of win.

Yep! I was going to say, the whole of this ep was...less than the sum of its parts, but it had some pretty terrific (funny) parts.

The one thing that really irked me about the whole "Sheldon as child" trope is that...I'm not even sure it's accurate. Sheldon is a grown man with a number of idiosyncrasies, very few of which (IMHO) are "child-like." It's dumbing down a pretty complex character for humor, and they seem to have mined some hilarious material out of Sheldon's character without resorting to those kinds of sitcom generalizations before. :/

To sum it up, I guess...lazy writing. Too bad. But the ep did have its moments. :)

(Hee, and thank you for the lyrics to "Single Ladies!" It was featured in another show recently and I've been humming it non-stop without knowing the words. ;p )

Ooh! Look at you with the first comment!

Yup, that sums it up perfectly.

It was lazy, indeed. What kills is that with a few small changes, they could have made it work. They really could have. It wasn't until the 'crossing the street/whistling out the door/final trio scene' that it went over the line. It was disappointing (even if Jim and Kaley were adorable in that trio scene there at the end).

I love these so much, so much information, must be a godsend for fanfic writers.

One nitpick:

Howard agreed to do a cooking class with Raj, but didn't show up because he was taking a juice class with his mother.

Juice FAST. Where you don't eat anything and just drink juice, which was why the next line was about never peeing so much.

Thank you, and the miscellaneous details section is written specifically for fic writers.

Re: Juice Fast, gotcha. I've never heard of that; I edited the post. Thanks.

Have been up all night for a paper so can't think and too tired to type properly so reposting some from the episode disc.:

Love the breakdown; you hit everything I'm sure most, if not all, of us were thinking. It was indeed a great episode, better than I thought it would be. I LOL-ed right through.

- WHY, OH DEAR GOD, WHY, was there that damn parental bit with Penny and Sheldon in the comic book store? L/P are the parents and Sheldon’s the kid that needs to be mollified with gifts? Puh-leez. Only thing that stuck in my craw.
- Sheldon cried when his parents fought. Can *nobody* see how sensitive he is? Wanted to give out hugs so badly.
- Sheldon Cooper FTW. He was the episode. Jim Parsons rules. Just give him the Emmy already. This should be one episode he submits; he was in every scene for one...
- Penny loves Sheldon. I'm with you; cannot see how L/P is the OTP at all the way they're being written.
- Kaley got her acting spark back in her one-on-one's with Jim.

Thanks again for another breakdown! G'nite!

I truly do NOT believe they are writing them as OTP now; it simply does not compute.

Kaley got her acting spark back in her one-on-one's with Jim.

Sadly, I'd go a step further; Kaley got her acting *talent* back. She was just not very good at all in the Leonard scenes, the fighting was so "acted," I was practically cringing. She and Johnny just do NOT work onscreen as a romantic pair. They do not, they do not, they do not. It's killing his character, and hurting her acting dreadfully.

The Amassed Miscellaneous Minutiae - One of my favorite features, as details details details are so great for this fan-ficcers heart.

That's the key reason for that section; for fanfic writers. (It saddens me greatly when I read fanfic that has little details wrong -- for example: Gablehauser being Sheldon's boss for years. He became his boss in the 4th episode of season one. It's noted specifically in this section.)

I bet you would kill if they made a BBT version of Trivial Pursuit. I'll say it again: You totally rock.

Eh, I'm not sure, I do tend to forget some of the things once I've moved on, LOL! Nah, I'd kill it, totally!

^_^ Great work!

Even though it sort of felt like everyone was just slightly out of character in one way or another, I really love seeing the child-like side of Sheldon. And now I relate to him in more ways than our hatred of lying. My parents used to argue in front of me too and I pretty much react the same way, plus I'm extremely childish under the surface and I would have been just as giddy over getting a toy. [*is embarrassed*]
