For a minute I was all "Wait, fanfic came true?" Then I remembered it was fanfic Priya that got her navel pierced.
I would have hoped for a better proposal, but I've known plenty of people who have said that their proposal was not a Romantic Event, so much as a logical discussion about joint finances and life insurance policies, concluding with "yup, seems we should go file some paperwork at the courthouse."
Fanfic Raj got a navel piercing in one of mine, although she was a woman at the time, so it was a bit different. (Later on in the same fic.) I love that it's canon now. It doesn't mean I'll retcon everything - navel piercing holes are actually easy to overlook if they don't have something in them - but it's definitely worth remembering for future reference.
My primary issue with the proposal was that it came immediately after an episode where there were (according to Leonard) two proposals, and much eye-rolling on Penny's part about Leonard's reaction thereto. The romance wasn't the thing so much as I thought it was very strange that she'd do it at all right after the previous experience.
oh wow, now we just need to see sheldon and amy having sex and howard and bernie get a baby and that was it. this show couldn't be any more predictable. i mean, the propose wasn't anything spectacular and it was kind of cute or whatever, but really?! :/ it this it?! no twist, no drama, no surprises anymore?! this show now seems like i don't know, my work week- always predictable and quite boring. and when i just think about another 2 seasons of this agony. watching the show getting worse and worse is really sad. i guess i only watch it because i loved the first couple of seasons so much and i hope there will be at least some episodes as good as the old ones, but i'm probably fooling myself. now we just need a whole season of penny's and leonard's weeding and an ending that will top the ending of HIMYM, because it seems TBBT is going in that direction- watering down everything to a redicule and copying the same old jokes over and over.
Wasn't it just an episode ago she still didn't want to get married? I just feel like she's going to regret this decision, because she's basically doing it because she doesn't think acting is working out for her.
If Howard and Bernadette were to have kids, that would be worse.
not just that, but she completely let all her dreams about a carreer go down the toilet. what will she do now? get back to being a watress at the cheesecake factory? or maybe she'll just be a housewife for leonard, cause he's all she needs.
Basically. It doesn't really fit with the Penny we knew from earlier seasons. Who wasn't really wanting marriage. Who was trying her hardest to get herself out there and become an actress. I just...I don't get it. Why would she give that dream up so easily? I can understand feeling bad, but I feel like Penny would more than likely get up and dust herself off than be like, "well, acting isn't working out. Let's get married!!". Especially when just an episode or so previously, she was still against marriage for herself and Leonard. Just...ugh. It feels more like Leonard asked enough, knowing she wasn't ready and wore her down than anything.

Well, that sure was a great cameo from Wil Wheaton there.
Oh, and how could I forget the stunning revelation that Raj has his navel pierced?
