Upcoming episodes, casting spoilers, oh my!

So I saw the finale casting spoiler a few other places and the reaction from non S/P fans was interesting, and paired that with some of upcoming spoilers and I started thinking. Call me crazy, but I think this may be good for us.

Yes. Far too pretty to die, but definitely pretty enough to angst... er, prettily.
I'm definitely on board with Penny not getting all this Sheldon-in-a-relationship backlash.

Trust me, I'm not coping well either, LOL! Emotionally, I'm a basketcase about this, but logically, I *can* see an upside and I figured I'd go that route to save my sanity.

I'm retreating into happy writer-y denial. I like the inside of my head - the view's better, and I have all the little voices to keep me company.

I thought maybe they are testing the waters with this character? I agree with you that if they ever want to show Sheldon in a relationship with any woman, first they have to get the audience accept the idea. I think the majority of the audience needs to get used to the idea, the writers have gone already too far on the "Sheldon's asexual" road. And I'm sure a relationship between Sheldon and a female Sheldon couldn't work, but maybe with this and with giving Sheldon a "deal", some could warm up to the idea that Sheldon's match could be someone NOT like him. Yes, I'm optimistic too. :)

Oh THANK YOU for posting this, it made me feel a bit better about all of these spoilers and such that have just been... blergh.
I really hope that you're right, because if this whole thing just serves to open the door to a more serious relationship with Penny then, I guess we'll all look back on it and think it was the best thing that could ever have happened. Hopefully this happens. Oh please please please.

I could be wrong, but looking at the spoilers, a lot of what I was seeing in the writing of L/P as well as "humanizing/putting Sheldon in sexually-tinged situations" that I mentioned in the breakdowns seem ("seem" being the operative word) to be bearing fruit. Based on what we know right now. So ... :shrugs:

ITA, all things considered, the characters seem to be moving the in the right direction. All I hope is that they don't throw L/P straight back together though. Even L/P shippers must realise that they just don't work.

Thank you for this--and now we know for certain that the backlash is just Sheldon being supposedly asexual. I hope they use next season to show he's really not--such as him saying he's not asexual, he CHOOSES to forgo intimiate situations, etc. This is a good thing, that way if they open the Sheldon/Penny can, the gigantic backlash would have already run its course, and a lot of viewers who have strong opinions about this sort of thing would have already been quieted.

I really don't think anything "real" will happen with Sheldon and this character. If she's just like Sheldon, she's not interested in anything romantic/sexual.

I just cannot stand it if this love interest-arc turns into something more serious. x__x

I'm also sure that if this Sheldon 2.0 doesn't end up in bed with Sheldon she will do it with some other guy. Because an asexual girl would be unheard-of! At least if one considers the current drive of the show...
