Ouch... no secret that I am clinging to the optimistic scenario BUT this is very much just as plausible as all the other ones. It was an open ending and this interpretation is painfully fitting. I absolutely agree that regardless whether Neal stole the Monet or became the security consultant, the one thing Peter definitely wouldn't do now was drop everything and chase after Neal across all continents :)

Hey, I'm all there with you when it comes to the happy ending! When I saw that newspaper, my first thought was that Neal was consulting for Louvre, and I'm sticking to that in my head canon.

OTOH, ever since Eastin gave us his nterpretation, I felt I had to address it at some point. Cue ficlet.
