Boys with toys

Cripes. I just popped out of my office to grap a sandwich and passed a couple of coppers dressed up like cops. As in 'tooled up'; 'packing heat'. Pepper spray, tazers and nine mils, all strapped to kevlar ( Read more... )

From what I've read, the language flibbles might actually be intentional. He speaks with a slight German accent with the other Watchmen but try to sound American in public - and we all know most Germans in American films are played by the English.

Ooh, straw!

*clutch*

It's... possible, but an unlikely explanation, in my opinion. Nice try, though *g*

I'm not holding it against him. I spent most of his scenes wondering if he was from a bit of North America that sounds a bit English, like New England or BC. Of course, I've since learned that he was in the Brideshead remake, which I never got around to seeing, despite the slashiness.

And Veidt is of course marvelously slashy.

All baddies are played by the English! We're ebil!

I can't find where I originally read the stuff about the German accent, but he talks about it here:

I'm hopeless at spotting accents myself. The best I can do is tell that the Russians/Spanish/English sound awfully Scottish when played by Sean Connery.

That's alright. I'm probably going to comics hell because I didn't particularly like the graphic novel...

*ducks*

And I'd probably only go to see the film so I can watch the new Trek trailer on the big screen.

Speaking of - did you see it? Or did you cover your ears and close your eyes? :D

I saw it.

I geekgasmed. In public. Disgraceful of me. Even MB bounced a little at her first sight of Pegg!Scotty. So adorable. Scotty, not The WifeTM

And Wolverine trailer, of course. Nummy.

Noted.

I have only read it the once, maybe three years ago.

I've been meaning to reread it, but was waiting til after the movie. Moose Biscuit hasn't read it yet (she was also waiting), so now we both can.

Plus, Nite Owl II was hot. In a totally ineffectual way. And - to a lesser extent - Silk Spectre II. Heh.

Still: best opening credits evah.

There's a lot to be said for a good superhero suit: Dreiberg was endearingly crap and dweeby, but once he was in the suit... Nite Owl was rather hot indeed.

Though, I rather loved the scene where Dreiberg and Larie were followed into an alleyway by an armed gang and beat the crap out of them, while dressed horribly.

And yes, nice credits.
