I had quite a busy weekend, which I'll post about later, but did anyone see the Cutting Edge on More4 last night, called 'The Dangerous School for Boys
( Read more... )
Yes, what you call public schools we call state schools, because their funding is from the state (ie the national government) and their curriculum is laid down by the state.
The guy was a nutjob, though, and I have no idea why the idiot parents were paying through the nose to send their boys off to get no education.
No such thing as a humane death if you're gonna eat it. Humane means using nice pain-free drugs. Not shotting a metal spike into it's head hauling it upside down by chains and slitting it's throat. Or in Ksher slaughter which is exempt from the laughable laws about stunning animals, justy hauling it upside down. Otherwise that would be how Fido got put down after years of faithful family service.
I have massive doubts about the educational value of any public school but I thought that particular one was archaic, laughable and a mockery of what education is supposed to be. As a teacher I always feel pretty insulted when a complete prat thinks he can do my job better than me...but especially so with this mysogynistic outdated moron.
Not so much mysogonistic as anachronistic. I might be wrong, but he made my gaydar go 'bing', and he was living like a gay man might have before it was legalised - celibate, living with mother dearest and enjoying fun little 'pull the towel out of the back of the trousers' games with the boys. He's stuck a century ago.
As far as I could see that place had no educational value at all. How the hell were the boys even taking GCSEs?

I still get very confused by the way "public" schools are pretty much opposites between our countries...
