LOL - no, it wasn't a ploy, honest! ;P

I did that bit they did in the season finale. Jeff looks at the wanted poster of himself and says his forehead is not that big and Troy replies that it's not small - I did it similarly with John remarking he's not fat and Sherlock saying he's not skinny. I love 'Community' and liked the joke, so I toyed with it a bit!
