Oh, oh my god, this is gorgeous and sensual and painful. This hit pretty much every single one of my kink buttons, and it's beautifully written on top of that. You leave just enough left unsaid so that the reader can infer the depths of what Sherlock went through, and how he's been driven to put it out of his mind by whatever means possible.

Sherlock pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes a moment, then let his arms rest on either side of him, clearing his throat before he continued, "I was clean, John."
