Oh! Current wisdom is that routine = empowering the youngster by letting them know what's happening so their life feels more orderly and expected than chaotic, and once they know what's going on they can participate fully and even initiate, so it cuts down on resistance. I haven't noticed that to be the case, though. Really he's just MORE resistant, and now things like pulling out a book (which he used to ADORE) makes him cry and say "no no no!" So we might go back to our crazy all-over-the-place method...
